My journey into the tech industry
I've been walking the path less travelled. I was homeschooled from the age of 10 until 16. I discovered programming when I was 13, writing my first JavaScript code on a platform called KhanAcademy, but I became frustrated due to the tutorials requiring me to draw shapes.
But my interest in programming never waned. I was fascinated by what one can do with code. Afterwards, I found out about Codecademy. Long story short, programming became more than just a hobby. I decided to take it seriously as a career in 2017, and I have never looked back.
2018 arrived, and I became an intern at Suria Labs. This went on for 3 months, until I was offered to join the team permanently. I was 17 and making a living as a software engineer. It felt unbelievable.
My time at Suria Labs
I couldn't have wished for a better place to start my career. I officially stayed there for 3 years and 11 months. Working for a software agency gave me valuable exposure to large and small projects. There were unique features to be implemented and extraordinary bugs to catch, there were different people to work with on different projects. It was a priceless experience.
What I'm currently doing
I went back to work on the 16th of March 2023, after 1.5 years on sabbatical. During my sabbatical, I was enjoying life's simple pleasures, spending my time with family, gaming, reading, grounding and sunning. I've never felt better.
Now that I am working again, my main goal is to maintain my healthy habits, followed by passing my probation! 😆 Let's see where I'll end up come June.
